How to cultivate cordyceps? If self-cultivation at home okay? This is a question many people have mentioned since cordyceps is cultivated in our country as well as other countries in the world. The following article will state procedure raise and manufacturing Cordyceps Please.
The origin of cordyceps?
As you know, Cordyceps originated from both nature and man-made. Before being grown experimentally in our country Cordyceps natural fungi that hatch on the plateau 4,000m higher than sea level. The name of the fungus is called Cordyceps sinensis and they live symbiosis on the larvae of insects in the genus Hepialus. The harvest of this herb is very difficult, because the output is so small, so the purchase price at the people's home is about 1 billion / kg after being dried. To the present time, the price is higher, not having money can be purchased.
Understanding that, researchers have successfully researched Vietnamese cordyceps farming. Currently, thanks to the advanced inventions of science and technology, many countries have successfully applied cordyceps cultivation, bringing high economic benefits to growers, including Vietnam. Here is the share about cordyceps production process applied by many research institutes in Vietnam.
What should be prepared to Cordyceps well developed?
In order to get the best quality cordyceps, scientists have studied the process and conditions based on the natural conditions of the fungus, besides going through many studies of the most suitable conditions for the development of cordyceps. The necessary tools, materials and equipment to prepare for cordyceps cultivation process:
Prepare the workshop
Plants to grow cordyceps need to ensure all the conditions: light, temperature, and humidity are suitable for the growth of fungi.
- The room should be absolutely clean, sterile to avoid pathogens.
- Lighting system needs to be adjusted like natural light.
- Air-conditioning system keeps the temperature stable in the range of 18-20oC.
- Mist spraying system to keep humidity from 70-85%.
- Truss system and shelves to place the feeding jars.
Essential materials for cultivation of cordyceps production
Materials and chemicals: Chemicals and materials prepared for culture media manufacturing Cordyceps
- Coconut water
- Brown rice
- Silkworm pupa
- High yeast
The necessary tools
- Plastic box, glass jar 650mL
- Petri dishes
- Autoclave sterilization
- Safety cabinets
- Pipettes, tips, flasks, measuring cups, ..
- Analytical balance
After being transferred from workshops, raw materials, tools to grow cordyceps, it will move into the stage of farming.
Conducting cordyceps cultivation
The farming process has 5 stages as follows Seed culture, fiber culture, fruiting, fruiting and harvesting.
Phytoplankton cultivation stages
- Transplanting stage:
Fungal varieties are cultured in substrate bottles in a sterile incubator.
- Start of fiber rearing:
Transplant seed into substrate bottles then proceed to transfer to a dark fiber room to adjust the appropriate temperature from 17-20 degrees Celsius, and adjust the humidity from 75 - 80% in 10 days. If you want to move to fruiting stage, you have to wait until the hyphae spread to the entire surface and eat up the biomass environment.
- Phase to create fruiting bodies:
The vial substrate will be put inside to feed in the lighting room. Conditions to ensure lighting 12 hours / day, intensity of 1000 Lux, suitable temperature from 18 - 20 degrees C and adjustable humidity from 75-80%. Within 1 day, open twice in the early morning and evening for up to 30 minutes each time to circulate air. 15 days after the tiny mushrooms are grown on the surface of the biomass medium, then move on to the next stage.
- Fruiting period:
The substrate vials with lighting mode of 12 hours / day and will reduce the lighting to only 700 Lux, the humidity then increases to 80 - 85% and then maintains the temperature. Keep the door open for room 2 open for a day and monitor regularly to remove jars with signs of mold, minimizing the risk of spreading to other jars. Within 2 months, we see the mushroom growing and this time the spores will appear.
- Harvesting period:
When the tip of the mushroom turns a darker yellow color than the body of the mushroom, the spores will appear, followed by harvesting. Open the jar and then use the curved scissors to cut the top of the mushroom. Note cut right down to the substrate and use a piston to remove each clump of mushrooms.
After harvesting, use fresh raw cordyceps to soak the wine or cut the mushroom body to porridge and can be dried, braked and used some other ways.
Above are the instructions about procedure raise Cordyceps production is applied by many research institutes today. If you want to grow cordyceps at home, you can go to research institutes in Vietnam such as the Agriculture and Forestry Technology Business Incubation Center - under the University of Agriculture and Forestry of Ho Chi Minh City. This is where the research was successful Cordyceps in Nong Lam Strictly tested and certified for food hygiene and safety.
